The Université catholique de Louvain invites applications for a tenure track or tenured temps plein position in Work Psychology

Teaching for the Work Psychology position will be organized by the Faculty of Psychology and Education (PSP- www.uclouvain.be/psp), which offers Bachelor and Masters programs in Psychology, Education, Speech Therapy and Family Sciences. With more than 3000 students enrolled in all programs, including the PhD and specialized continuing training certificates, the Faculty of Psychology and Education is the largest in the French Community of Belgium. Teaching is in French, but some courses may be taught in English.

IPSY/ Psychological Sciences Research Institute (http://www.uclouvain.be/ipsy) consists of 228 members (including 46 teaching and research professors, 28 postdocs and 85 PhD students). IPSY enjoys an outstanding national and international reputation and has developed fruitful scientific collaborations with leading universities around the word. The research carried out in IPSY is of high international standards and covers the following fields: Cognition and Neurosciences, Clinical and Health psychology, Social, Work and Organisational psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology. The Institute aims to make the life of researchers easier by providing them with personalized assistance and facilities in edition, statistics, ethics, access to participants pool, Budget and projects management.

The successful candidate will be involved in teaching and research in work psychology.
The areas to research include new challenges in the world of work, including new forms of work organization and organizational cultures, work conditions, work-life balance, participation and involvement in the world of work, well-being and health at work, job performance, the management of diversity at work, career management, transitions between periods of unemployment and employment, employee retention and, more globally, new relationships among individuals and social groups in the workplace (competition, struggles for positions, discrimination at work).
The research perspective of the successful candidate must be based on work psychology and/or social and organizational psychology, with the possibility of building bridges with psychology applied to human resources management and personality psychology. As a member of the Psychological Sciences Research Institute (IPSY), initiating and maintaining a fruitful dialogue with related disciplines such as work and organizational sociology, socio-economics and law is critical. It will help to build bridges with researchers pertaining to the Interdisciplinary Research Centre on Work, State and Society (group CIRTES).

The successful candidate will have teaching assignments in the above-mentioned field within the various curricula organised by the Faculty, at the Bachelor and Masters levels and in the Master programme in Economic and Social Policy (shift schedule).

General conditions
Tasks : the applicant will:
- be responsible for teaching courses at all study levels (i.e. undergraduate and postgraduate), as well as in programmes of continuing education;
- supervise the final diploma research (i.e. theses) of undergraduate and graduate students, as well as PhD theses;
- be involved in (and/or supervise, promote) research programmes;
- contribute to the international visibility of the University through teaching and research excellence;
- contribute to activities of the University with a societal impact in the fields of the economy, socio-cultural changes or cooperation with developing countries.

Qualifications : the applicant must have:
- a PhD degree in Psychological Sciences;
- a significant scientific record with international publications;
- either  studied abroad for an extensive period or have had substantial experience outside the UCL;
- experience in and the aptitude for teaching at university level;
- the capacity to work within a team of teachers and to integrate research findings into teaching;
- creativity and must be open to teaching innovation and interdisciplinarity;
- the capacities required to undertake academic research at a high level and to advise, or lead, a research team;
- good knowledge of both spoken and written French and English. If this is not the case, the applicant accepts to learn French and/or English in order to be able to teach in French and English within 2 years. Fluency in other languages is an additional advantage.
